Thankful Thursday

I am so thankful that we had an opportunity to visit Hazel one of  the shut ins from church.  We were saddened to hear of her passing this last week at the age of 98.  She was our favorite to visit and she loved the Lord.  We were able to witness it through her stories.  We took her the Lords supper and prayed with her too.   The lord blessed us when he put Hazel on our journey.

I am thankful that last weekend I did not get hurt very badly when I took the dog out in the pouring rain at 3:30 in the morning and slipped on the wet deck.  I thought I was being careful.   I am thankful that I willed myself to get up and tell myself I did not hurt.

I am thankful for the Diaconate team at Church letting me sit and watch since I was limping after my fall a few hours earlier.

I am thankful for the Christian Radio stations K Love and The Message.  I listen to The Message when I drive and K Love while I work.  I get so inspired when I hear the songs.

I am thankful I got a Christmas Card Tuesday from a dear friend that lived next door to us when we lived back in Nebraska.  Her letter was full of tragedy and despair with her family issues and she definitely needs my prayers.

I am thankful for the nice man at the gas station earlier this week.  When I accidently rolled down the back window he played along and was very kind.  He was interesting too but I felt like he was asking too many questions about where I worked.  I think he meant well because he said you go to work early so you must get off early too right?  And then he said I suppose you have off weekends.  He told me I was very lucky to have those hours.  I am thankful for good work hours and a good job.

I am thankful that I have Dental insurance even though I am going to be having more dental work done and more out of pocket expenses again this year.

I am thankful for my baby Einstein.  At 3 he is still very active.  His favorite thing to do when I am home on my lunch break is trying to get my attention.  He runs fast and then will stop in front of me to see if I am paying attention or he will shake one of his toys and growl.  I can’t help but laugh.

Locks for Love

We are so proud that our Granddaughter Kayla started the project of growing her hair long so she could donate it to locks of love.  She told me that Locks of Love makes wigs for kids that have cancer or don't have any hair.

She had to grow her hair at least 10 inches in order for it to be used.  When she went to the Salon they put it in pony tail and cut it.  They gave her a special envelope and form to send it out.

Here it is.  She has very thick hair

Not only is Kayla beautiful on the outside she also has a beautiful heart.  She said that she is ready to do it all over again.

Some Joy to share

I am thankful for my friends and family that spoiled me with so many birthday gifts,  My last celebration was girls night out last Friday night with Dinner at a Thai restaurant and alot of girl talk and laughter.

I am thankful for some family time last Sunday with my granddaughters Kayla and Morgan.
Kayla and papa played chess on the tablet.

Our son Jeremy was teaching his dad some tips on using the tablet

Kayla and Morgan entertained us playing on the WI

They stopped long enough to hug Nana and Einstein

and my baby Einstein he keeps me and Marvin entertained.

Khloe and Tiger still have not yet quite adjusted to Einstein but they are becoming a lot better friends.   Tiger is getting close and Einstein just wants a friend so bad.

I am getting so excited about something happening at the end of February and first part of March.  I can't talk about it now but Marvin and I are very excited.

Blessings
Janet

TJ and Einstein

In  mid 1977 Marvin was a  bachelor and living on own when he got a cute puppy.  He named him TJ. ( After his favorite wine TJ Swan)  .  When Marvin and I met in late 1977  I invaded TJ'S space.   In 1979 Marvin and I married and I became TJ's mommy.  And then the babies started to come.  I will never forget when we brought our first born Jennifer home when she started crying TJ started to run circles around the rocking chair.  He was a good pet and gentle with the kids.
He lived for 10 years.  Below are some pictures of TJ

Does he look familiar?   Below is our baby Einstein.  He is a Terrier/Toy poodle mix

Both dogs have and are bringing joy to our home.

Happy Birthday Dad

Happy Birthday dad!  I am so happy that I got to spend time with you last August and I will get to see you again in a few months.
I am lucky to still have my dad.  He has a heart of a servant and always is volunteering for everything.  He love to garden, play cards and play with the grandkids and the great grandkids. He is a great cook too.
Thank you God for blessing me!
Happy Birthday Dad

Dumb Stupid and Ugly

Imagine if someone wrote the above in your senior memory book. In case you can’t read it this is what it says. “Janet, To the dumbest, stupidest, ugliest broad in our senior class. But you are OK I guess. Good luck in your married life. Love Peg

That is from my senior memory book. Though I have forgiven this person I have never forgot it. When I pull out my memory book and yearbooks I am reminded of it

Last week at Bible Study we talked about from a Shepherd to a King . We are making our way through the book "The Story" by Max Lucado & Randy Frazee. This is the verse that we were looking at.

1 Samuel 16:7

“But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Immediately I was drawn back to memory of what this classmate wrote in my memory book. What a life lesson even all the years later. People still judge others by their outward appearance and there are still those bullies who name call.

Just for the record I never thought that I was ugly. I knew I was not a beauty but God made me the way he wanted to. I know I am not the smartest person and I had to work hard for my grades but I am not dumb or stupid. I know that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and he is the only that matters as he can see my heart .

Happy Birthday Ricky

Happy Belated birthday (January 10th) to our son-in law Ricky.

He is married to our youngest daughter Holly.

Ricky likes to bow-hunt, golf and loved the Oregon Ducks.  Thanks Ricky for taking good care of our Holly!

All about my baby Einstein

Oh my goodness it is so different having a dog back in the house again. He is such a baby boy and a lap dog just like I wanted.

He crawls up on my lap and goes to sleep, Isn't he so sweet. He really is BUT yesterday Marvin and I left to go to breakfast for my Birthday, (He is a combination Christmas and Birthday gift for me) Any way will we were gone my sweet little Einstein did this.

He shredded the mini blinds so I guess that was a birthday present to me too since we had to replace them.   We have now pulled the love seat out from the window and have the mini blinds pulled higher.  I am planning to shop for some drapes too.

But isn't he cute?  He is modeling his new Duck t-shirt here.

We rescued Einstein from a shelter that got him from a high kill shelter in California.  Those shelters only keep dogs and cats for a limited amount of time and then they are put down.
His talents besides shredding mini blinds and tissues from the trash can in the bathroom are playing with the cats ball like a cat he has really good control.  He can stand on two legs really well too.  He has the cutest little whine and a loud bark for a little guy.  He is a Mama's boy and gets so excited when I have been gone.  He insists I drop everything and hold him.

Now about the cats.  They still have not made friends.  Tiger stays out and creeps around but they are getting closer to a friendship.  Khloe is having a hard time and it is breaking my heart.  She is back to hiding in my closet.  She used to sleep with me but now Einstein does.  So it is going to take some time.  I do spend time with her each day.

New Year blessings to you all!
Janet
