More from Fathers Day

While we were celebrating at Jeremys for Fathers Day we got a call from our daughter Jennifer in Georgia.  Jennifer and Jeremy used facetime on their I phones so Jennifer and her family could watch Marvin open his gifts from them.
Kayla had to help Papa

His gift was the book "Convert" by Bob Delaney" a NBA referre and a picture of Kobe Bryant and Bob.  Bob autographed this picture personally for Marvin.
Of course our AWESOME son in law Matt had a lot to do with this as he was Bob Delaneys escort for a few days and got to know him quite well.

Holly and Ricky gave Marvin a round of golf and Jeremy and Sara provided a great family BBQ.  Sara our daughter in law made this yummy carrot cake from scratch.   Spending time with the family is so important to us.

Now for the hike.  Even though I thought it was to warm and humid I agreed to hike with the family.

What a great family picture of Jeremy Sara Kayla and Morgan
This was just the beginning and that is why I was smiling
and Marvin was fine no problems at all
Here Holly was waiting for us
we  snapped some pictures for Morgan of nature
Kayla was stretching waiting for the rest of the group
Morgan insisted on modeling in front of the tree.

My face was so red here.
You can tell in these pictures how hot and exhausted I was.  I almost fainted a couple of times dropping to my knees and seeing black BUT I willed myself to get up and continue.  Lukily we had brought some ice water.    And I made it and I was okay.
It was great weekend to get to spend with the kids.
A big thank you to
Jennifer Matt Emma & Logan
Jeremy Sara Kayla & Morgan
Holly & Ricky.

We love you all and are proud to be your parents.

Remembering Adam

It has been 12 years since my 20 year old nephew Adam went to live with Jesus.  We know he is safe in Heaven and he is forever in our hearts  We miss you Adam.

Psalm 23:4 (NIV)
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

A great Fathers Day weekend

We headed up North  last Saturday so we see our son Jeremy and daughter in law Sara's new house and spend the weekend with them.  We had a great time.  Our grandaughters Kayla and Morgan gave us a tour.  A little later our daughter Holly and our granddogs Shane and Sheila arrived.
We arrived in time for Papa to make his famous Goulash that the girls just can't get enough of.  Five year old Morgan said the cutest prayer before we ate.  "Jesus, I love you, thank you for this food. Jesus this is GOULASH, I love you.  Amen"  We loved that .

After lunch while others were out back I was in the house and I heard screaming and ran out back and this is why
They had got the sprinkler out and Jeremy was hold Kayla over the sprinkler.
Before long we all took a shot

Papas turn
I love this picture of Holly that I captured
why not

It felt good on the warm sunny afternoon and we were laughing so hard

Morgan was smart and went and got on her swimsuit first.

After swimming some tested the new ladder out
Jeremy was first.  We had some bad looking clouds overhead.  Luckily they just passed without producing any storms.
Then it was Sara's turn, not quite as high as Jeremy
Kayla went right up
and Morgan would have went all the way to the top if Jeremy would have let her

The kids including Holly enjoyed the play set left by the previous owners
Below Jermey and Sara are just chilling out.  Not really chilling because it was warm.
Kayla loves to read and that what she did most of the day.
and Holly was caught doing homework while enjoying the sunshine
There was time for a game of Monopoly while Papa was watching Tiger Woods
This post is getting to long to I will continue in the next few days on the rest of our events including a facetime call from Georgia (our daughter Jennifer) and a hike up a Mountain.

Blessings to all

Happy Anniversay Holly & Ricky

So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.  1 Corinthians 13:13

Happy 4th Anniversary today to our daughter Holly and son in law Ricky.  It was such a beautiful wedding.  What a blessing it is to have Ricky in our family and have the comfort that he is a man of God and will take care of our baby Holly.

And 4 years later here they are enjoying one of the Oregon Ducks games.
Thank you God for bringing these two lives together.  And may they celebrate many more.

We love you Holly & Ricky!

Happy Fathers Day Dad!

Happy Fathers Day to my Dad!   As I grow older (and wiser) I realize all the sacrifices and gifts you have given to me.  I thank God he sent you into my life when I needed a dad.  I can't wait to see you this summer.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is my mom's birthday. I can't wait to get to see her this summer. Although we live miles apart we talk often and I have some great childhood and adult memories made with my mom.  She has always been there for me and is a great example of a mother.    Thank you God for blessing me with my mom.

Happy Birthday Mom!  I love you!

Prayer request

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.   Philippians 4:13,

My sister in law Kay (Marvin's sister) has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma  it has definitely spread to the lymph nodes in her neck... The oncologist said this is a slow growing type of cancer. The treatment will be chemotherapy which is set to begin on June 11th   It will take 4 months-----treatment for 3 days in a row, then off 25 days. This will be repeated for a total of 4 times.

Please pray for endurance, 100% cure/remission, that the potential side effects won't occur, and that God will surround them with HIS love through HIS children during this time. Kay and her husband Mike were very calm and positive during the visit. She said to the doctor that God is in control and that she is confident that this will be a small bump in the road!  Those words above are Kay's.
In this picture from the left Kay, Lorene and Marvin in 2009,brother Ed is not pictured
Remember little Jordan that I had asked prayers for when he was born a preemie.
He is Kay's grandson....and he is doing Great!

Isn't he cute?  He is truly a miracle.

We can't wait to see all the family this summer.
