More Christmas Memories The Christmas Pickle

This year we started a new tradition that we just learned about.  "The Christmas Pickle"

The Christmas pickle is a Christmas tradition in the United States. A decoration in the shape of a pickle is hidden on a Christmas tree, with the finder receiving either a reward or good fortune for the following year. There are a number of different origin stories attributed to the tradition, but it was primarily thought to have originated in Germany.

So we found a plastic pickle ornament from the dollar store and hid it on the tree.
First we let Morgan and Kayla search for it
The girls were looking everywhere and the big tree was shaking
Finally Uncle Ricky and Daddy Jeremy stepped into to help

and Morgan found it
We actually gave Morgan and Kayla a scratch off prize
Next it was the adults turn
It was really hard to find since it blended in so well
Our son Jeremy was the winner,.   We were laughing so hard.  We can't wait until next year in hopes that Jennifer and her family will be celebrating with us.
We really did have a nice Christmas.  Full of family, love and laughter.
and on another note about family and love
Today December 30th would have been my nephew Adams 33rd birthday.  He is celebrating in heaven with Jesus today.  Happy Birthday Adam!   Someday we will be there to celebrate with you again.

Our Christmas

We were able to celebrate Christmas Eve day with our daughter Holly and Son-in law Ricky.  Ricky made a great prime rib on the trager and we enjoyed playing cards.  Our new baby Einstein got along well with Shane and Sheila (their dogs)
We soon headed over to our son Jeremy, daughter in law Sara and Kayla and Morgan (our grands)
It was quite apparent when we walked in that our Einstein and their large puppy beagle Maggie were not going to get along.  But that did not stop us for having a good time.
We all headed to bed and waited until I heard such a clatter at 4 in the morning.  It was Sara and Maggie tumbling down the stairs.  Thank goodness no one was hurt.
This was their beautiful tree from upstairs.  You could see that Santa had come with a bike for each of the girls.  Marvin is in the picture too but I am not sure what he was doing.

Soon it was time for Aunt Holly and Uncle Ricky to arrive so we could all open presents.

Having fun skyping with our Kansas family our daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Matt and grands Logan and Emma.  We got to watch them open some of the gifts we sent them.
This was a wonderful hand made gift that took Matt and Jennifer a lot of time.  We love it.
We had a wonderful time and there another post to follow.

Happy Anniversary

Today is a very special day.  It marks two special anniversaries.  The first is my mom and my dad were married 49 years ago.  The second is 49 years ago God brought me and my sisters a new dad since he took our dad home with him to be in heaven a year earlier.  What a blessing he bestowed on our family.  Soon there was another baby which God also took to heaven with him.  But he blessed our family with two more brothers.

Thank you mom and dad for teaching us high morals and values.  Thank you mom and dad for taking us to Church to learn about God.   Thank you mom and dad for making us go to school and stay in school.  Thank you mom and dad for those times you said no  and I cried but in the end it was the right decision. Thank you mom and dad for welcoming my husband as your son.    Thank you mom and dad for being a volunteer, a giver rather than a taker and having a kind heart.  You both are an example of being God's servants and I am proud that I am able to witness it.

Though we lives miles apart now I still get to talk to you often and we get to see each other every year or two.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
I Love you!

Happy Birthday Joyce

Today is my sister Joyce's birthday.  She is only 12 months older than I am.  So she is my big sister.  I was able to spend time with her a few months back when we were back on vacation.   She is more than my sister she is my friend and I am so happy God made us sisters.  We are both made from the same fabric.
We have enjoyed taking vacations together and I can't wait to take another cruise with her.  We get to laughing and can't stop.
When we were on one of our cruises or somewhere  and Joyce was looking at me and she said we really look alike we both have the same color eyes and our ears look the same.  My hair is a little darker (like our mom) but you can tell we are sisters.  Of course Joyce was always the Princess and I was the naughty one.  (I just verified that with mom) but mom did say Joyce was naughty sometimes too.  LOL

Happy Birthday Joyce!
I love you

Happy Birthday Holly

Today is our daughter Holly's 29th birthday.  Holly just lives a couple of hours from us so we get to see her often.  She is my baby too.  She has beautiful blue eyes along with a beautiful heart.

She is so busy getting her Masters degree and working full time but she always has time to talk to her mom and dad.  She is a huge Oregon Ducks Football Fan too.   She loves the Lord and her family too.  Her husband Ricky and her enjoy the outdoors.  They love to hike and exercise.

We are so proud that God sent Holly to us to be her parents.

Happy Birthday Holly we love you!

What is going on!

I have been dealing with Vertigo now for about 4 weeks.  I am getting better.  The kind of Vertigo I have is called BPPV.  I have been going to physical therapy and having the Epley Procedure done.  I also have been doing it at home everyday.  I am getting better but not completely like I want to be.  The spinning has stopped but I still have some problems with balance and get lightheaded.

For Thanksgiving (when I was still spinning) we headed to Holly and Ricky's for a Yummy Lunch with Turkey and Ham.   Our son in law Ricky brined the turkey for 2 days and then smoked it on the trager.  It was the best Turkey I had ever had.  There were 16 people there all in total.  I was not much help or company and had to rest the afternoon laying down in a quiet room while the rest played cards and Chess.

Ricky the cook snagged some skin before I got a picture
Morgan our granddaughter and Ricky's Grandpa Red.  Morgan was teaching Red how to play Angry birds on her tablet.
Waiting for Lunch our other granddaughter Kayla and I waited and visited.  The banner in back our us "Give Thanks"  was made by our daughter Holly and Kayla and Morgan.

I am finishing up decorating for Christmas but it has been a slow go.  I have also been shopping on line and have my Christmas Cards but need to get them ready to go.  I am not doing a Christmas letter this year because it is too much.

Today I was able to enjoy Church and we visited our favorite shut in Hazel. She will be 98 in January.    We were also able to shop and take the gifts we bought to the giving tree at the mall.  I had a good nap and now it is time to work on the tree.

Tiger and Khloe have also made sure they give me plenty of love into between there naps.

I am so thankful that Marvin had been taking good care of me and I have been blessed with such a great family.

Fun for everyone at the Farm

When we were in Kansas in August we went to a little farm called Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead that is in Overland Park.
The kids were anxiously awaiting for to go in.
First we headed to buy some food for the fish

The grands were so cute and excited to feed the fish and see the ducks

and Kayla all enjoyed a ride on the horse

and then we headed to feed the goats

I was laughing so hard because the goats were eating clothes too.  This was my favorite part of the farm
Next we headed to a tee pee

 Morgan was crushing corn

and then off to pan for gold

and to the hayride

there was also a cute little playground called Morgans playground so we had Morgan take a picture under the sign

and finally we went over to pet a big goat
this goat was begging to be petted
so after everyone stepped away I leaned in and had my picture taken.  Right after Marvin snapped my picture this goat head butted me and I went flying.  I caught myself and was laughing so hard!

We had such a great day with grandkids and kids that day!
