Thankful Thursday

I am thankful that my 4 year old granddaughter Morgan is finally feeling better.  She had been sick for several days.

I am thankful that we got to skype with my Georgia family last Monday.  It was so cute.  Emma sang and danced for us.  She is going to be in a play so she was showing us what she had learned.  Logan was being a stinker and kept trying to get in the picture while Emma was dancing.  He did sing his ABC's twice for us but neither Emma nor Logan really wanted to talk.

I am thankful that we got a letter from our African granddaughter Brenda.  In her letter they wrote that for the birthday money we sent her they (Compassion International) bought her a new dress, a petticoat, cooking oil, beans and sweets.  It broke my heart that she did not get a toy.  She is only 8 years old.  They decide what the child needs the most and it was basic needs except for the sweets.

I am thankful that I got to watch "Tammy and the Bachelor" with Debbie Reynolds.  I love all the Tammy movies with Sandra Dee too.  Give me a Doris Day movie and I will be even happier.

I am thankful last week in Church when we were serving there were substitutes since we had some people absent on our Diaconate team. I really got aquainted with some people that I did not know. What a blessing

I am thankful for the Candian Geese and Ducks that entertain me outside my work window.  The Geese are so loud sometimes and they really don't care about all the cars.  This week I have seen a  a male and a female.  Tuesday I saw the female I didn't see the male.  I finally saw him he was several steps behind her just looking around.

I am thankful for email.  My daughter Holly and talk a lot that way throughout the day.

I am thankkful for my CD that I bought in Georgia by Jen Mozely.  I love that CD and listen to it every morning on the way to work.

I am thankful for the book "40 Days with Jesus"  It is a small book provided by our church that we are all reading together.  It is written as though Jesus is speaking to you personally.  This book is a treasure and I am sure I will read it several times.

Lastly I am thankful that Max our dog finally stopped sneezing at 3 am this morning.  I think he sneezed about 50 times in a row.  Poor thing.  I wonder if he has allergies.

Blessings
Janet

I miss my family in Georgia

I am really missing Georgia. The number one thing I miss is

I miss all the snuggling, hugs and kisses, and the time listening to Emma read, and reading to Logan (even if it was the same book.

I miss the time just chatting with my daughter Jennifer

I miss the day we spotted a beautiful cardinal and everyone wanted to see it. We do not have cardinals in Oregon but we did when we lived in Nebraska..

And then I miss the crickets soothing sound that reminds me of Nebraska at night. I miss the singing birds that made my waking a cheerful one.

I miss the yummy meals that they cooked while we were there. I miss my afternoon nap each afternoon.

We were so blessed to get to go see them and spend a week with them.  We hope to get to see them again in June.

Have a Blessed weekend!

Celebrating Jeremy's birthday

Jeremy Sara Kayla and Morgan
Last Saturday we had a great time celebrating Jeremy birthday with his wife Sara, and grandkids Kayla and Morgan.  Our daughter Holly and her husband Ricky were there and Sara's brother Travis was too.
Marvin and Jeremy went to the Butcher Boy and bought these yummy steaks.
I made a potato salad, deviled eggs and a cake.  Jeremy wanted a birthday cookie so Sara went and bought him one.

It was a wonderful day full of Sunshine so we all stepped out on the deck to get some sun and visit.

We played some games
The kids played
we enjoyed the beautiful waterfall in their back yard
but most of all we had fun celebrating Jeremy's birthday with him.

I fell in love on the plane and also got quite a shock

We have never flown Frontier airlines before so when we booked our tickets and they had the lowest prices we decided to fly with them. Now you have to understand that Marvin always has to have a window seat that leaves me with the middle. This is a problem for 2 reasons, sometimes I get cranky when I travel and I always have to use the lavatory (I think it is nervous bladder. I really am not scared to fly because I know I am not in control). On the first leg from Portland to Denver there was no one in the aisle seat next to me. I was able to scoot over and was really comfortable and did not have to climb over anyone to use the lavatory. On our final leg into Atlanta there was a very nice lady that was from Atlanta that sat next to me. She had been on a girl’s trip to Vegas so she was anxious to get home and see her babies. We chatted a short bit and then she feel ASLEEP……I had to tap her on the shoulder to wake her so I could use the lavatory. I felt so bad. We had rough flight and a lot of turbulence too.

On our way home our first leg to Denver I shared the seat with a younger man. He was a small man so that was good. But when he started to pick his nose I almost got sick. He slept some of the time and was awake when I had to go use the lavatory,

When we landed in Denver we did not have to change planes and since our flight was running late we stayed on the plane. We got to watch all the action that happens in between flights. The cleaning, restocking, the pilot talking with the flight crew were just a few things. We had the best flight attendants on this last leg. They were both so humorous. They told us that the plane had 30 seats open so I was keeping my fingers crossed that the aisle seat would be empty. The last few people were boarding when I saw a middle aged man on his phone looking for his seat. He sat down right next to me and bonked me with his red bag. I was not so happy at that moment until I fell in love with this

This puppy was 6 weeks old and the cutest thing. I got to pet him. The guy told me he would probably have to move because he needed more room. This is the one time I wanted someone to be in that seat (of course if it was my family of friend that would be okay) He ended up moving to the 2 empty seats in back of us. We still got to see the little guy because he was sleeping on the middle seat on a blanket
Now onto the rest of the flight. I got the aisle seat. There was a very tall man sitting in front on me with a woman. I couldn’t figure out where he went, anyway when I got up to stretch and go to the lavatory I saw where he went. They had a blanket and were in an inappropriate position for passengers on a plane. I was so shocked. Talk about feeling uncomfortable. Marvin was sleeping so I could not even tell him.

Overall it was a good flight and I snapped a few pictures of the beautiful sunset from the heavens.
And a picture of my true love.

Still to come, favorites in Georgia and Jeremys birthday

Blessings

Happy 30th birthday Jeremy

Happy 30th birthday to our son Jeremy. I cannot believe how time has flown. It seems like yesterday he was a little boy loving the outdoors and playing all day with his dump trucks, fire trucks and riding his bike.

He has grown into a very responsible man and we are so very proud of him. He is a giver with a kind heart. He loves the Lord. He most of all loves his wife and his daughters Kayla and Morgan and put them first in his life. He is a hard worker always offering a hand. He loves his parents and is a mommy’s boy still to this day. I love when he calls me and also when we get together in person.

God blessed Marvin and I with this beautiful son and I am glad that God picked me to be his mom.
We love you Jeremy!

Our final two days in Georgia Thursday and Friday

Logan and I started the morning brushing our teeth.

At School with Emma waiting for the awards cermany

Emma recieving her award for using being an example of the word "honor" for the month of February.  We were so proud and happy that we got to be there to watch this ceremony.

Then it was lunch time.  Emma had Green eggs and ham (which she did not eat) while we all packed our lunches.
We then went and picked up Logan from pre-school and went to 3 grocery stores so Jennifer could do her coupon shopping.  She saved a lot of money too.

Then it was back home to take some family pictures
Papa was able to play one more game with the kids.  As you can tell Logan made himself very comfortable on papa.
Then before you know it we were on our way to the Airport on Friday.  But we stopped a t Chick fil A.  We had never been there before and it is a good place to eat.
Then it was back in the car heading to Atlanta.  Papa and Emma played some games
We then told them all goodbye with tears in our eyes.  We had the most wonderful time and we made sure we seized each day!

In a few days I will be be blogging about the expeiences on Frontier airlines, the other passengers and a cute little surprise on the plane.  You won't want to miss it.

This was our only nice day while were we there.  We enjoyed watching the kids on their bikes.

The neighbor boy brought his chalk over and  Logan laid down so his friend could outline his body.
You knew this was coming right?  Logan wanted Nana to lay down so he could draw around me.  All around me.  What a good Nana I was and I am for posting this embarrassing picture.
Emma and her friend Kiley drew some pretty pictures
Soon it was back indoors since Mommy left for school.  We played some WI
Emma and I were playing swords here
Daddy got home from work and Logan helped him make yummy Pizza for Dinner
After we ate Daddy gave Logan a haircut

and Papa read Logan a story
Wednesday morning we had very heavy thunderstorms so we stayed inside.  Logan played
The neighbor kids came over to played games
Then it was Dinner time and Jennifer made a beer can chicken on the grill in the rain.  It was so good.
And then Nana read a story to Logan
