Our Alaska Cruise Day 1,2 and 3

In May Marvin and I took a 7 day Alaska Cruise aboard the Ruby Princess.  We left out of Seattle.  We had such a great time.
Our ship was huge.  It held 3599 passengers at its max and crew of 1200.  We did not feel crowded at all.

We got on the ship early around Noon and headed to our room.
We had a mini suite with a balcony.
I won these beautiful flowers in a raffle.  We got to enjoy them the whole week.

Day 2
This is the first day at sea,
Our first formal night...with rough seas all day and night
Marvin had the steak.  I had Salmon but forgot to take a picture
Yummy dessert.  Red velvet chocolate that melted in your mouth

Day 3
Ketchikan Alaska
We shopped and did a lot of walking around the town in Ketchikan.

 Our Dining experience
this was my cantaloupe soup (sorry the picture is sideways)
Lovely Halibut

Marvin had to have crab legs

Marvin's dessert was cranberry sorbet

We met some wonderful people on the cruise.  We were able to sit with them almost every night.  They were a little older than us.  We did not realize the first night that we were sitting with the narrator to the wildlife seminars and his wife.  We were able to ask alot of good questions and we got to know two of the nicest people.  She reminded me so much of my mom.

To be continued with the rest of our days at sea.

A Boy or a Girl

A couple of weeks we went to a "Reveal the Gender" party for my daughter Holly and her husband Ricky.  The party for was the immediate family.  Holly and Ricky did not know what that we having either.  I really wanted it to be a girl but at the last minute I thought it would be a boy.  They had cupcakes made and filled by their neighbor.  The frosting filling was blue or pink.

We all had lunch before the big moment and the anxiety was felt through the room.

Marvin and I dressed for the occasion.  I found the perfect blend of colors for my blouse and wore a blue and pink necklace and Marvin for Yellow (which he looked so handsome in)

That right they are having a GIRL....we are so excited and praying for a healthy baby.
We are so excited to be grandparents again.  This is Holly's and Ricky's first one.  We already have 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson.

Blessings to you and your family

Our grand daughters Emma and Kayla

Marvin and I took a couple of days off work so we could spend time with the family.  We first went up to our daughters Jennifer's house.  That evening we went to our granddaughter Emma s band concert.
Emma plays the clarinet.  She is in 5th grade.  She has only been playing since the beginning of the school year.  There were a mixture of students from all the elementary schools in the area along with the middle and high school....
What a joy it was to her play her clarinet....I was so impressed.  She looks so grown up

The next day we headed to our son Jeremy's house.  We were able to go to our grand daughter Kayla's school and watch her play the Taiko drums.  She is also a 5th grader.

She is in the red shirt. What a show.  Our seats were vibrating.  I am so happy we were able to attend.  These kids had only learned the drums in one week.

Later that evening we were able to sit outside by the fire, roast marshmallows and listen to Kayla play guitar (there was a little singing going on too! )

We are so blessed by our grandchildren and children.

How Time flies

I can't time flies and it is already March 1st.  All is well with the Cowan family.  We had a big announcement that happened during our family Christmas on December 27th.  Our youngest daughter Holly and her husband Ricky are expecting their first baby in the late summer.

We have been so blessed and have been busy living life.  I thought I would try again to get back into blogging.

Gardens of the Gods

We stayed at Garden of Gods Lodge while we were in Colorado Springs.  You can also see Pikes Peak  The view from our room was breathtaking.
There were a little bunny family that was running around too.

We did indulge in room service.   The food was on so good.
We had never seen a magpie before but as we were unloading our luggage this little bird was a nuisance.

The rocks looked like they were glowing in the morning bright sunlight
Upon hitting the trails we saw this sign......YIKES that is all I could think about.
This was one of the favorite places we stopped while enjoying the beautiful state of Colorado.

Vacation Mt Rushmore and more Part 1

On our drive back to Nebraska we did some vacationing...On our second day of driving we stopped at Custer Battlefield Cafe for some lunch

Marvin choose a Bison Burger
while I choose the frybread and tomato soup.I did not even know what frybread is deep fried bread and it was so yummy....I ate it with  honey on yummy

After a full tummy we walked around outside.  It was really warm but we enjoyed our stop.

The next day we arrived at Mt. Rushmore...It was so beautiful
You just can't imagine unless you have been there the majestic feeling we had.
We just stood and stared for quite a while.  We did walk the down the several steps to see the information on each president.
of course we had to find our home flag
and our birth home flag
We had a wonderful time.  Next stop was the little town Keystone that was close by.  I love rhubarb so we stopped by for a wine tasting and bought a few bottle of various wine even though we are not big wine drinkers  .  We bought a bottle of the rhubarb wine and shared it with my sister...I think they forgot to add the sugar in the bottle I bought.  It was sour....

We then headed over and had our pictures taken in old fashioned picture.  It was so fun....the group of photographers that worked with us were really good at their jobs
